So I've decided to have an exhibition/opening night on in October sometime. Mostly because I'm going to Madagascar next month for just over 2 weeks and to have an exhibition just before I leave and then have it closed afterwards would not be so great. Also I'm going to an island off the east coast after the operation smile mission so maybe I'll get some good photos to print during that time. It's the season when humpback whales are in the area so will be awesome if I can get some photos of them while i'm there.

So I'm definately going to have a night when I get back. I'm picking up 7 A1 prints on friday that are getting mounted, hopefully they turn out well.

I've been asked to go on the next operation smile mission to Madagascar, I did'nt think I would be able to go on a mission this year but I feel like it's a good thing for sure. I been working really hard, finished the gallery so will have an exhibition before I leave and then hope to have good photos when I get back.

I was going through photo's the other day from a while ago and thought how certain stages in your life you can have amazing photos and other times the level just drops. Maybe thats just a random observation or nostalgia. But with a place like this I'm hoping to mission to after operation smile I'm sure I'll get some okay photos. Still not sure if I'll be taking my board along with or not but I might be kicking myself if I don't by the look of that reef.

Had my first studio shoot in a long while for saltwater girl with one of the best female surfers bianca buitendaght. I was a bit nervous because it's been a while since I was in the studio but ended up really enjoying it. Had some awesome support from two local stylists and herman pieters whose studio I used. Plus Bianca was really great and put everything into it so got some good photos. Once they are published I'll ask permission to put some of them into my portfolio.

Got some more work from zigzag, really happy to do work with them, I mean I've been reading that magazine since I was in primary school. Just taking photos down at the S.A University champs, had clear skies this morning with fun 4 foot offshore waves, but I think thats the last of the clear weather we going to have in a while. I might be standing under an umbrella for the next two days. Still not a bad way to start the week at all, listening to good music and taking surf photos.

It seems like things are slowly coming together, I met a local photographer with some amazing photos of Namibia who is keen to show her photos and a few local artists who are also keen to put up their paintings. The lights are gonna be put in this week and then its pretty much getting everything in and promoting an opening.

 

Last week was one of those weeks, draining on a lot of levels, but the work side of things it was a good week, espesially getting asked to submit some photos for zigzag's site. I spent a lot of the weekend sitting on the barnacles taking photos and just to have photos selected makes it all worth it. Not a bad way to spend a day either, surfing and taking photos.

I got some space for a photo gallery, it's gonna take a while to get ready. I need to put lights in, make signage, paint it, move all the storage thats in there and get all my photos printed and get hold of other photographers that will like to put their photos in the gallery. I don't want it to be just my photos and I want to hopefully get more interesting products to sell in there, its basically 2 smallish rooms, and hopefully 3.

I'll post some pics of the space so theres a before and after. Really appreciate this opportunity, if anything it will be a learning curve.
